Why Is There a Blue Screen When I Start An Event?

Your Photobooth may have (seemingly) randomly displayed this screen (or something like this screen) when it boots into photo taking mode:

This screen occurs when the “Defaults” button is clicked in the “General” tab.Capture.PNG

There is no prompt that changes were made besides your Event name becoming changed to Default. This can be fixed by reloading a past event you had before Defaults was clicked. You may have had a wedding or party that had all of your email and facebook presets, which you don't wish to loose. If you reload that event and click the green "Save and Start" button, then it will revert to all your old settings.

If you do not have this option then you can reload FirstEvent found inside your backgrounds folder on your desktop. This will revert the photo booth software to PBSCO defaults. If your backgrounds folder was moved, altered or deleted, then you can download a backup copy below.

Surface Pro 3:

BackGrounds Folder - copy of FirstEvent!. Drag it onto your desktop. Go back to Socialbooth and load the event FirstEvent within this folder. (You will need to navigate to it by clicking on the event name "Default".

FirstEvent - A very very important file. When reloaded it puts Social Booth back to proper PBSCO settings. If corruption or anything else occurs where Social Booth cannot function you can download this file and load it as your event to put it back to normal. Read more about this on this post!

Surface Pro 4:
BackGrounds Folder - copy of FirstEventSp4!. Drag it onto your desktop. Go back to Socialbooth and load the event FirstEventSp4 within this folder. (You will need to navigate to it by clicking on the event name "Default".

FirstEventSP4   - A very very important file. When reloaded it puts Social Booth back to proper PBSCO settings. Surface Pro 5:

If you have a Surface Pro 5, and notice that your machine has a blue screen or is not running properly, corrupted files may be to blame. Please follow the following steps to wipe out the corrupted files and reset your tablet back to the original settings it had when you received it:

  1. Quit out of Social Booth
  2. Open "Extras" folder on your Desktop
  3. Run "Booth Software Refresh"

Open the Extras folder to run "Booth Software Refresh!"

That's it! When you open Social Booth again, you should FirstEvent already loaded as the Event Name. Click through the tabs to name your event, upload your template, and enable any social media settings. Be sure to Save and Start to lock those features in, and begin!

WE STRONGLY SUGGEST ALWAYS SAVing YOUR EVENTS, BACKGROUNDS, TEMPLATES AND ANYTHING ELSE THE SOFTWARE USES TO THE DEVICE LOCALLY AND NOT IN THE CLOUD OR ON A USB FLASH DRIVE.

We strongly advise to backup your events to USB drives or cloud storages such as Dropbox but always have the software looking for information on your device, not in the cloud or the USB. Having the software get information from a USB device or cloud storage may have a huge risk of corruption. You can bring files, templates, overlays, ETC from different devices but drag them to the desktop and load it from the desktop always!

USB AND CLOUD STORAGE SHOULD BE FOR BACKUPS, NOT LOADING DATA FROM.
