If you are having a difficult time opening Social Booth, or you are unable to even reach the General tab without a serious lag time, then the settings file you are using may have been corrupted. In that case, you will need to have Social Booth rebuild its setting file. You can do this by following these three steps:
- First, you will need to change your settings so that you can view hidden files. In order to do this, search "File Explorer Options" in the search bar on your tablet (accessible by clicking the Windows button at the bottom, left corner). Once you open that, click on "View" and select "Show Hidden Files."
- Find the Settings.ini in the Appdata folder. If you cannot see it, then go back and repeat the following step, making sure to "apply" it, and then select "OK."
- Once found, move the Settings.ini file to the desktop from the path by dragging and dropping: "C:\Users\(Yourprofilename)\AppData\Local\SocialBooth"
- Doing so will rebuild the settings from default, and it should open.
If it does not, you will need to reinstall or determine if another application is blocking it from fully opening (such as antivirus or antimalware programs).
WE STRONGLY SUGGEST TO ALWAYS SAVE YOUR EVENTS, BACKGROUNDS, TEMPLATES AND ANYTHING ELSE THE SOFTWARE USES TO THE DEVICE LOCALLY AND NOT IN THE CLOUD OR ON A USB FLASH DRIVE.
We strongly advise to backup your events to USB drives or cloud storages such as Dropbox but always have the software looking for information on your device, not in the cloud or the USB. Having the software get information from a USB device or cloud storage may have a huge risk of corruption. You can bring files, templates, overlays, ETC from different devices but drag them to the desktop and load it from the desktop always!
USB AND CLOUD STORAGE SHOULD BE FOR BACKUPS, NOT LOADING DATA FROM.
