If something is causing you issues in Social Booth (settings aren't loading, templates are giving you trouble, or something is just off) on your Surface Pro 3 or 4 , here is the number one easiest way to get around it:

  1. Go to "General" tab
  2. Click on "Reset to Defaults"
  3. Click “Load Event” which will load a navigation window within windows.
  4. On the left of the navigation window click on “Desktop” to navigate to the Backgrounds folder which is saved on the desktop.
  5. Once the backgrounds folder has been opened within the navigation window, scroll to the bottom of the backgrounds folder and locate the FirstEvents.settings file and click to open it (like you would any other event).
  6. Once you load the FirstEvents.settings file found inside the backgrounds folder, click Save and Start.

That's it! This will essentially "refresh" your settings and take your Social Booth interface back to the settings we had set when you first received it. Sometimes settings files can get corrupted, and you'll need to revert to the original settings to address that glitch.

Once you do that, you are welcome to load the settings that you want back into Social Booth. Make sure to save and start each time you reload a new setting so that you can find out where (or if) an issue occurs!

If you are missing any of those files, please find the correct files for your machine below:

Surface Pro 3:

FirstEvent - A very very important file. When reloaded it puts Social Booth back to proper PBSCO settings. If corruption or anything else occurs where Social Booth cannot function you can download this file and load it as your event to put it back to normal

Surface Pro 4:

FirstEventSP4   - A very very important file. When reloaded it puts Social Booth back to proper PBSCO settings. If corruption or anything else occurs where Social Booth cannot function you can download this file and load it as your event to put it back to normal.

Surface Pro 5:

If you have a Surface Pro 5, and notice that your machine has a blue screen or is not running properly, corrupted files may be to blame. Please follow the following steps to wipe out the corrupted files and reset your tablet back to the original settings it had when you received it:

  1. Quit out of Social Booth
  2. Open "Extras" folder on your Desktop
  3. Run "Booth Software Refresh"

Open the Extras folder to run "Booth Software Refresh!"

That's it! When you open Social Booth again, you should FirstEvent already loaded as the Event Name. Click through the tabs to name your event, upload your template, and enable any social media settings. Be sure to Save and Start to lock those features in, and begin!

WE STRONGLY SUGGEST TO ALWAYS SAVE YOUR EVENTS, BACKGROUNDS, TEMPLATES AND ANYTHING ELSE THE SOFTWARE USES TO THE DEVICE LOCALLY AND NOT IN THE CLOUD OR ON A USB FLASH DRIVE.

We strongly advise to backup your events to USB drives or cloud storages such as Dropbox but always have the software looking for information on your device, not in the cloud or the USB. Having the software get information from a USB device or cloud storage may have a huge risk of corruption. You can bring files, templates, overlays, ETC from different devices but drag them to the desktop and load it from the desktop always!

USB AND CLOUD STORAGE SHOULD BE FOR BACKUPS, NOT LOADING DATA FROM.
